Hyderabad: Surgeons at BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals, Nanakramguda, have successfully removed 11 large uterine fibroids weighing approximately 2.7 kg from a 26-year-old woman using advanced laparoscopic techniques, while preserving her uterus and future fertility.
Three of the fibroids were exceptionally large, comparable in size to a muskmelon, while the remaining fibroids were similar in size to a sweet lime. The uterus had expanded to the size of an eight-month pregnancy, making the entire procedure complex, doctors said in a press release.
Senior Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon Dr Manasa Badveli said, “This was a technically demanding case given the number and size of fibroids involved. We were able to offer her a laparoscopic solution, preserving the uterus and minimising surgical trauma.”
The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition.
