Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) G Jagan and his private security guard B Ramu for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs two lakh from Prajapati Constructions and Developers Managing Director Bommina Koteswara Rao for doing an official favour.

Jagan allegedly demanded Rs four lakh as bribe when he was working as DSP of enforcement wing in Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). Of the total bribe amount, Jagan allegedly accepted Rs two lakh near his office through Ramu.

Jagan reportedly demanded bribe from Rao to overlook deviations in the apartments constructed by the latter at Mallampet village in Dundigal municipality, according to an ACB press release. The release further stated that Jagan performed his duty improperly and dishonestly.

Searches which began at 10 places including the residence of Jagan on Tuesday night continued on Wednesday also.

The ACB officials produced Jagan and Ramu before the special court for ACB cases after which they were remanded to judicial custody. Jagan, who was relieved from HMDA, was waiting for posting. In case of demand of bribes by any public servant, the ACB advised the public to contact toll free number – 1064 for taking action as per law.
