Hyderabad: Dutch woman files sexual harassment complaint against boyfriend’s roommate
A woman from the Netherlands has lodged a sexual harassment complaint with the Gachibowli police against her boyfriend's roommate, alleging repeated harassment during her visit to Hyderabad. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and police are searching for the absconding suspect.
Hyderabad: A woman from the Netherlands has lodged a sexual harassment complaint with the Gachibowli police, alleging that her boyfriend’s roommate subjected her to repeated harassment during her stay in the city, earlier this year.
According to the complaint, the woman had travelled to Hyderabad in March to visit her boyfriend, who resides in Kondapur. She alleged that the suspect had repeatedly stalked her, stared at her inappropriately, attempted to touch her without consent and engaged in objectionable behaviour inside the apartment, leaving her traumatised.
The complainant approached the police earlier this month, following which a case was registered under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual harassment.
Gachibowli police said that a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint.
The suspect had also allegedly verbally harassed and ogled at the complainant. His identity has not been disclosed as investigators are attempting to trace him.
Officials said he is currently absconding and his mobile phone has been switched off.
Efforts are underway to locate and nab him, while the investigation into the allegations is on.
