Hyderabad: An incident involving fake airline tickets came to light at the RGIA on Friday night, where eight passengers were detained while allegedly attempting to travel to Kuwait.
According to information available, the passengers, all migrant workers from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, had approached a local agent who promised to arrange their travel to the Gulf. The agent allegedly collected money from them and issued fake IndiGo airline tickets.
When the passengers arrived at the airport to board the Kuwait-bound flight, airline staff grew suspicious during ticket verification. Upon scrutiny, the tickets were confirmed to be counterfeit. Security personnel immediately intervened and took the passengers into custody.
During preliminary questioning, officials found that the agent had cheated the workers by providing forged tickets. RGIA police said further investigation is under way and efforts are on to trace and nab the agent involved in the fraud.
