Hyderabad: Elderly couple found murdered in their apartment in Rajendranagar

According to the police, unidentified persons brutally attacked the couple with blunt and sharp objects causing grievous injuries and killing them in their bedroom

Hyderabad: An elderly couple was found murdered in their apartment in Jana Chaitanya Phase -2 in Rajendranagar in the suburb on Friday.

The couple, identified as Sheik Abdullah (70) and Rizwana Begum (65), both retired employees, were staying on the fifth floor of the apartment complex.

According to the police, unidentified persons brutally attacked the couple with blunt and sharp objects causing grievous injuries and killing them in their bedroom. The victims were found dead with multiple injuries by the neighbours who alerted the police.

The Rajendranagar police registered a case and are investigating if the murder was part of a robbery attempt or committed by those known to the couple.

The CCTV footage from surveillance cameras on the routes leading to the crime spot were being analysed.

“We are investigating with focus on why the couple was targeted and who may be the possible suspect. We are exploring multiple angles to determine the motive behind the murders including a murder for gain or an insider’s job,” a police official said.
