Hyderabad: An elderly woman was found dead at a construction site in Lalgadi Malakpet in Shamirpet here on Sunday. She was suspected to have been hit with a boulder on the head killing her on the spot, police said, adding that a gold chain she wore was missing.

The victim, P Lakshmi (60), a daily wage labourer, lived alone since her three daughters were staying with their families in Shamirpet. Police suspect the assailants killed her in the early hours of Sunday. The motive is yet to be known. They suspect a murder for gain.

Lakshmi was found dead in a pool of blood by local residents who alerted her family and the police. The body was shifted to the mortuary for autopsy.
