Hyderabad: An elderly woman died by suicide allegedly by jumping from a multi-storied building at Lanco Hills in Raidurgam on Wednesday.

Police suspect she was upset over her chronic illness and age related issues and ended her life.

Gangavathi Neeladhar (80) was staying with her daughter and son-in-law on the 20th floor of a multi-storied apartment and being treated for her health issues. Her family had also kept a care taker for her.

According to the police, even after taking treatment for the past five years, there was no improvement in her health condition. She was upset for the past few days. She went into the store room in the house and jumped from the window.

“She used a small ladder kept in the store room to climb and reach the window. She pushed the slide doors of the window and jumped from there. She first fell on the net which was tied to the building and then fell on the ground after the net came off,” said a police official from Raidurgam adding that she suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot.

The security guards rushed to her rescue and also informed her family members.

The Raidurgam police are investigating. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
