Hyderabad: Prominent Telugu filmmaker N Shankar has appealed to the people of Hyderabad to vote for the TRS party in the GHMC elections.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, he pointed out that Hyderabad had become a peaceful city with harmonious atmosphere prevailing all around, during the TRS regime. Shankar further advised political parties not to play gimmicks in order to gain mileage and urged against adopting divisive politics in the name of religion and caste. He said Hyderabadis need not undergo the experiences of the past of communal passions and riots that made people suffer.

The Telugu filmmaker recalled how Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao ensured peace during the years of Telangana freedom struggle. “People have embraced a friendly lifestyle in Hyderabad. Political parties should not resort to provocative speeches by playing religious and caste cards just for the sake of politics,” he remarked.

“As many as 350 Basti Dawakhanas are ensuring quality healthcare to the poor in the city. And Annapurna canteens have come as a blessing for the hungry and poor. Everyone thought that Metro Rail wouldn’t see any progress but to everyone’s surprise, the Metro Rail chugged off within no time bringing relief to never-ending traffic woes. We haven’t seen a leader like Chandrashekhar Rao who has such a vision and foresight,” he added.
