Hyderabad: A third year engineering student died, allegedly by suicide, and was found hanging in her hostel room at Maisammaguda under the Petbasheerabad police limits late on Friday.
The victim, K Madhavi (20), pursuing engineering from a private college, was a native of Lingalapuram village of Jangaon district. She was staying in a hostel at Maisammaguda.
According to the police, Madhavi, who was visibly depressed for the last few days, ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room on the third floor of the hostel building. “She ended her life when her roommates had gone out. When they returned, the door was latched from inside and they repeatedly knocked on it. When there was no response from inside, they informed the hostel management, who forcibly opened and door and found her dead,” an official said.
The Petbasheerabad police shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy. Officials said a suicide note was found at the spot in which Madhavi wrote that she was depressed over her life and the death of her father when she was only five years old, and that she was ending her life. Her family members told the police Madhavi had no problems and that they have no suspicion over her death.
The Petbasheerabad police are investigating.
