Hyderabad: Engineering student dies by suicide over online betting loss

A BTech student in Dundigal died by suicide after reportedly losing ₹50,000 on online betting apps. He had borrowed money from friends and was frequently engaged in mobile gaming activities.

Hyderabad: An engineering student died by suicide allegedly upset over losing money in online betting apps in his room in Dundigal on the city outskirts on Monday.

The victim identified as T Ramakanth, a native of Kataram in Bhupalapally district, was studying BTech second year at a private college in Maisammaguda and was staying in a room with his friends in the neighbourhood.


As per available information, Ramakanth was found mostly playing online games and betting on his mobile phone, and police suspect that he lost nearly Rs 50,000. For this, he had also borrowed money from his friends.
