Hyderabad: Light showers greeted parts of Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon offering some reprieve from the soaring temperatures. However, the relief could be short-lived with the weather department forecasting a sharp rise in the mercury levels on Monday.
After a brief spell of rain and thunderstorm, the temperature is poised to rise again across the state.
According to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperatures are likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at isolated places in Telangana on Monday. Dry weather conditions are likely to prevail over the state, and the day temperature might go as high as 42 degree Celsius at some places. However, there is also a possibility of light to moderate rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in the state on April 21 and 22.
Giving details about the situation, the weather department shared there is a trough at 0.9 km above mean sea level that runs from Jharkhand to north Interior Karnataka across Chhattisgarh and Telangana, due to which the state is receiving the rainfall.
The highest maximum temperature of 41 degree Celsius was recorded from Adilabad by the IMD on Sunday, accompanied with a prediction of 5 mm of rainfall.
