Hyderabad EON Space Labs gets patent for miniaturised space imaging system

Hyderabad-based EON Space Labs has secured a patent for MIRA, a miniaturised space telescope-based imaging system. Weighing 502 grams, the system is designed to provide high-definition multispectral Earth observation imagery for commercial applications across agriculture, mining, marine and insurance.

Hyderabad: EON Space Labs, a Hyderabad-based deeptech company developing advanced electro-optical imaging systems, has been granted a patent for its miniaturised space telescope-based imaging system.

MIRA is an advanced imaging system, integrated with TakeMe2Space’s MOI-1A satellite — India’s first orbital computing satellite slated for launch on board the SpaceX Transporter-18 rocket on October 1. MIRA marked its first orbital flight attempt earlier this year in January on board ISRO’s PSLV-C62 mission. While an upper-stage anomaly prevented payload deployment, the mission successfully validated MIRA’s mechanical integration, spaceflight packaging, and hardware readiness.

Building on this, EON Space Labs is also accelerating its flight heritage roadmap with another upcoming orbital deployment aboard ISRO’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV).

Codenamed MIRA, it is also certified space-grade as per NASA standards, delivering high-definition multispectral EO imagery in an ultra-compact form factor. Weighing a mere 502 grams, MIRA enables satellite operators to offer commercial EO services across agriculture, marine, mining, supply-chain management, and insurance.
