Hyderabad: EROs submit proposals to election commission

Hyderabad: Following the instructions from the Election Commission of India (ECI) for rationalisation of polling stations, the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of District Election Authority, Hyderabad have submitted their proposals on Wednesday.
In the 15 assembly segments located in Hyderabad district, 11 polling stations (PS) have more than 1,500 voters. As per guidelines, for the conduct of general elections or bye-elections during Covid-19, there should be maximum 1,000 electors instead of 1,500 electors in a PS.
The EROs also proposed a change of location of 58 polling stations and change of nomenclature of 24 polling stations. The proposals were provided to the political party representatives for claims and objections on Wednesday at a district level meeting which was attended by GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, additional commissioner of elections wing, Pankaja and other officials.
Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy, BJP’s Kolluru Pavan Kumar, AIMIM’s Syed Mushtaq Ahmed were some of the political party representatives who attended the meeting.
