Hyderabad: Four days after the brutal murder of a former banker, Spandana (29), at an apartment in Deepthisri Nagar in Miyapur, the police solved the case and arrested her ex-colleague for the murder on Friday. The suspect was identified as M Manoj Kumar alias Balu.
Spandana, hailing from Visakhapatnam, had previously worked for a private bank in Hyderabad, but left the job. She got married two years ago, but the couple has been living separately due to marital discord. Spandana lived with her mother and brother.
On September 30, when Spandana’s family members were away, Manoj Kumar barged into the apartment and attacked her with a screwdriver and a boulder, killing her on the spot.
Miyapur police registered a case and began interrogating three suspects. Investigators utilised CCTV footage and phone records and identified that Manoj Kumar was behind the murder.
Investigation revealed that Manoj had developed feelings for Spandana, who had been living apart from her husband. When she rejected his love proposal, Manoj decided to eliminate her.
