Hyderabad: Ongoing earth excavation works for the flyovers and underpasses surrounding the KBR Park led to significant traffic jams, prompting the special chief secretary to advise the deployment of huge men and machinery to manage the situation.

Over the past three weeks, the GHMC has taken up deep earth excavation works near KBR Park, resulting in over 60 percent of the main stretch from KBR Junction to Mugdha (Lotus Pond) traffic junction and vice versa being blocked.

As a result, the traffic during peak hours is facing hardship. The Hyderabad traffic police also imposed traffic restrictions on this stretch and advised daily commuters to choose alternative routes to reach the main roads and avoid inconvenience.

A couple of days ago, GHMC commissioner, R V Karnan, visited the KBR park work sites and reviewed ongoing works and urged the agency concerned to complete the earth excavation works as quickly as possible, keeping in view the significant traffic jams on this stretch.

A press release said on Thursday, the Special Chief Secretary of the State Municipal Urban Development Department, Jayesh Ranjan, who visited the sites at the KBR park, instructed engineering officials to accelerate the work.

Special CS urged the GHMC officials to prepare an action plan to complete the work swiftly and directed the engineering officials to review the progress weekly. The official directed the GHMC Commissioner to provide additional machinery and manpower to speed up the work. He stated that the state government was undertaking this flyover project as a prestigious initiative to permanently alleviate traffic issues in the vicinity of KBR Park

Jayesh Ranjan, along with Commissioner R V Karnan and Chief Engineer Sahadev Ratnakar, reviewed the progress of the flyover work on the ground from L V Prasad Eye Hospital to Jubilee Hills Check Post, Road Number 45, it said.
