Hyderabad: With the gradual resumption of the train services being done over the South Central Railways, the MMTS service will be partially restored in the city from June 23.

Due to the cancellation of the MMTS train services during March 2020, some of the season ticket holders having a valid tenure could not utilise their tickets for the remaining period. To assist such ticket holders, the Railway Board has extended the validity of all the season tickets to the extent of number of days lost, from the date of resumption of the train services, June 23.

All such season tickets are eligible for extending the tenure in proportion to the number of days lost. The passengers holding valid season tickets – purchased either online or at booking counters – should approach the booking counters at MMTS or sub-urban stations to validate and extend their existing season tickets.

The authorities also plan to reward all the passengers who opt for contact-less and cash-less purchase of MMTS tickets.

Passengers booking tickets through ATVMs, available at all major MMTS stations, will get an additional benefit of 3 per cent bonus purchases. Those who buy MMTS tickets through the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile App will get an additional 5 per cent bonus in case they opt to pay via the R-Wallet available in the app.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway, appealed to all MMTS rail users to avail both the facilities of extension of season tickets as well as cash-less ticketing options to make their journey safer and hassle-free. He advised rail users to utilise digital mode for purchasing the MMTS tickets, in order to avoid overcrowding at general booking counters and also to reduce physical contact while purchasing the tickets.
