Hyderabad: The family members of a 42-year-old businessman, Guduru Mani Prasad, who was declared brain dead at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday, have agreed to donate his organs to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On Thursday, April 23, Mani Prasad, a resident of Venkataramana Colony, KPHB, Hyderabad, collapsed at his home and was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad by his family members.

Even after providing emergency ICU treatment for three days, the health condition of Mani Prasad did not improve. The attending team of doctors at the hospital declared Mani Prasad brain dead on Sunday, April 26.

His wife, Guduru Ramya Swetha, made the heartfelt decision to donate his kidneys, liver, and corneas, and in the process, help five patients in need. The donated organs include two kidneys, one liver and two corneas.

Jeevandan Programme in Telangana has reached a significant milestone with 62 brain-dead donations, which also includes Guduru Mani Prasad, recorded this year.
