Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a family’s pilgrimage turned fatal after six members were killed in a horrific road accident at Exit 16 of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Shamshabad on Friday. One woman is battling for life with critical injuries.

The victims have been identified as Bolli Shiva Kumar (37), a resident of Sanathnagar and native of Rajanna-Sircilla district, his wife Bolli Lasya, their daughter Bolli Rishitha, Kodem Srinivas (40), and two minors, Krishna Chandra and Kodem Madhav. Swetha (35), wife of Srinivas, suffered severe injuries and is undergoing treatment, with her condition reported to be critical.

According to the police, the incident occurred when the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R with registration number TS23F2298 was travelling from Pedda Golconda towards Shamshabad and rammed into the rear side of a stationary truck. The impact was so intense that the car’s front portion was crushed and wedged beneath the truck, killing six occupants on the spot.

The victims had set out early in the day for a pilgrimage. They first visited the Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta, where they offered prayers in the morning. On their return journey, they stopped for lunch at a restaurant near Bhongir.

Later, they proceeded to the Swarnagiri temple near Bibinagar for darshan. After completing their visits, the group began their return journey towards Hyderabad.

Police suspect that the driver, Shiva Kumar, may have been fatigued due to the long day’s travel and extreme heat conditions. It is believed he may have dozed off for a moment while driving at high speed, leading to the car crashing into the parked truck on the roadside.

The Shamshabad police rushed to the spot and took up investigation.

Efforts are on to gather further details, including whether the truck was properly parked and if all safety precautions were followed.
