Hyderabad: Film director Puri Jagannath appears before ED

Hyderabad: Popular Telugu film director Puri Jagannath on Tuesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the drugs case.

Responding to summons issued to him a few days ago by the ED, the film director appeared before it at its office in Basheerbagh here. The ED issued summons to 12 film personalities including Puri Jagannath to inquire into money laundering issues in the drugs case that came to light in 2017.

After busting the drugs racket which rocked the Telugu film industry in 2017, the Prohibition and Excise department issued summons to Puri Jagannath and other film personalities and questioned them. This is the second time that Puri Jagannath is appearing before the investigators in connection with the drugs case.

Apart from Puri Jagannath, the ED has also summoned other film personalities to question them from August 31 to September 22. The excise department has already filed separate charge-sheets in the court in the drugs case.

Based on the Case Occurrence Report (COR), the ED has taken up the probe in the drugs case.
