Hyderabad: TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao declared that the party will take the responsibility of families of the TRS party activists in case of the latter’s untimely death. He said Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao will take the role of the head of the bereaved families and ensure their well-being in the case of death of any party worker.

Rama Rao distributed cheques worth Rs 2 lakh each to around 80 bereaved families of TRS workers who died recently, at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan here on Wednesday. He also spent a few hours with the family members to interact with them and enquired about their well-being as well as listened to their problems. He also had lunch with the families of the deceased party workers. He promised that the party will support them at all junctures and also facilitate necessary help to eligible persons under various government schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, the TRS working president urged the bereaved families not to get disheartened in the wake of untimely death of their family member and instead, remain strong. “Despite the absence of your family head, the party is here for you at all times. Though you have lost a family member, you have a bigger family – the TRS family,” he said. He asked the party general secretaries and MLAs to take up the responsibilities of the families of the deceased TRS party workers in their respective constituencies across the State.

Responding to the requests from the bereaved families for help, the Minister assured that the party general secretaries and MLAs will reach out to them in order to resolve their problems within 10 days. About 950 TRS activists were killed in different accidents over the last one year and the responsibility of their bereaved families lies with TRS, he declared. “The party activists are protecting the TRS throughout their lifetime and we will protect the bereaved families in the former’s untimely death. The party general secretaries should take their responsibilities,” he said

The TRS has emerged as an invincible political force in the State with a membership of 60 lakh. Rama Rao said all these 60 lakh families are part of one huge family of TRS. He handed over a cheque of Rs 18 crore to the insurance company for 2021-22, providing Rs 2 lakh insurance coverage to each TRS party member.
