Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at Centro shopping complex, Gangaram in Chandanagar on Friday. No casualties were reported.

Officials suspect a short circuit in the electrical signage board might have led to the fire.

The staff, who noticed the fire from the signage board at the shop, alerted the Fire Department and police, following which three fire engines were rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

The cost of the property damaged is yet to be ascertained. The Chandanagar police are investigating.

Local residents said this was not the first time the shopping complex had faced a fire incident. A similar blaze occurred about a year ago, resulting in significant property damage.

After the previous incident, the management had renovated the complex and resumed operations.

The recent fire has raised concerns about safety measures in the complex.
