Hyderabad: At least two temporary huts were damaged when fire broke in one of them on the pavement under the flyover at Amberpet on Tuesday. No casualties were reported in the fire.
According to the police, the incident occurred after one of the huts caught fire suspected due to a short circuit or the residents cooking a meal. Alerted by the fire, residents in the huts and those adjacent to it, rushed out to safety.
Locals in the nearby residential area and motorists passing by the road, noticed the fire and alerted the fire department and the police.
The fire personnel and police rushed to the spot and immediately doused the fire.
Officials said straw and plastic material in the huts could have led to the thick smoke apart from the unpleasant odor emanating from the burning of plastic, fiber and straw material in the surroundings. The Amberpet police are investigating.
