Hyderabad: The Keesara police on Monday arrested five persons for a daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Nagaram on January 2.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nazeem Azeez Kotadiya (39), Bishu Karma Ekendar Singh (24), Mohd Saif Ali alias Adnam (23), Rajendar Singh alias Raj Singh (19), and Ratan Singh Bahadur alias Ratan (23).

Police said two of the suspects first entered the shop posing as customers, after which two others barged in armed with an axe and a dummy pistol and attacked the shop owner, Sandeep Gehlot.

Though injured on the head, he resisted and managed to recover most of the jewellery. The accused fled on a motorcycle with some gold ornaments.

All five were arrested following technical analysis and eyewitness leads. Police said most of the suspects are habitual offenders. A car, a bike used in the crime, and a dummy pistol were seized.
