Hyderabad: Five persons involved in the murder of a woman were arrested by the Saidabad police on Thursday. The police seized knives, mobile phones and motorcycles from them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammed Imran (28), Basheeruddin Qureshi (25), Syed Arshad (21), Syed Irfan (22) and Mirza Wasim Baig (25), all residents of Karwan.
According to the police, Parimal Kanodia, husband of the victim Manjula Kanodia, had borrowed Rs. 11 lakh from one Mehraj Begum on the pretext of investment in pharmaceuticals business. However, after paying profit for a few months, he started avoiding repayment.
“A few months ago, Kanodia went absconding. The five suspects led by Imran, a relative of Mehraj Begum, went to his house on Monday and met Manjula to discuss the issue. An argument ensued between them during which Imran took a knife and stabbed Manjula to death,” said M Ramesh, DCP (East).
The Saidabad police registered a case and arrested the five persons, who were produced before court and remanded.
