Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, five members of a family were found dead under suspicious circumstances at Miyapur on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Narasimha (60), his wife Venkatamma (55), their son-in-law Anil (32), daughter Kavitha (24), and granddaughter Appu (2).

The incident came to light when a neighbour, finding no response at the house around 6:30 am, alerted a relative of Narasimha. Upon breaking open the door, the relatives discovered the five members lying dead.

Anil, Kavitha, and Appu were found on the bed, while Narasimha and Venkatamma were on the floor.

“We suspect the child was killed by the family and later all of them might have consumed poisonous substances. The exact cause of death will be determined after autopsy,” said ACP Miyapur Y. Srinivas Kumar.

Police arrived at the scene and, after preliminary inquiries, shifted the bodies to the mortuary for postmortem examination.

Anil and Kavitha had been staying elsewhere and recently returned to Narasimha’s house in Mahaboobpet Maqta, Miyapur. The family had migrated from Karnataka during the lockdown.

“The neighbours reported some family issues involving Kavitha and Anil. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances,” added the ACP.

A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
