Hyderabad Food Safety officials raid momo stalls following death of woman from food poisoning
As part of the special drive, 110 food stalls preparing momos were inspected and 69 samples were collected and sent to the lab for analysis

Hyderabad: Following the death of a woman and several other persons falling ill allegedly after eating momos from a food stall at Nandi Nagar in Banjara Hills on Monday, officials from the Food Safety Wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) raided several stalls at Chintal Basti in Khairatabad on Tuesday and found some of them were illegally running without necessary permissions from authorities concerned.
As part of the special drive, 110 food stalls preparing momos were inspected and 69 samples were collected and sent to the lab for analysis.
The Food Safety Wing officials also visited the hospitals where the persons who fell ill were admitted. They requested the doctors to carry out necessary medical evaluations required to confirm the incident of food poisoning.
Further, the food handlers were sensitised about hygiene and sanitary requirements to avoid contamination. They warned that further action will be taken against the establishments where serious violations are noticed.
