Hyderabad football legends Syed Abdul Rahim, Shiv Kumar Lal honoured

Hyderabad: Dronacharya and Arjuna Awardee Syed Nayeemuddin unveiled the photographs of two legendary figures in Hyderabad football history at the Telangana Football Association (TFA) office at Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Friday.

The photographs were of former India coach Syed Abdul Rahim, credited with ushering in the golden era of Indian football, and Shiv Kumar Lal, the first secretary of the then Andhra Pradesh Football Association. The TFA conducts its B-Division league championship annually in Shiv Kumar Lal’s name.

Nayeemuddin, who is also Telangana’s brand ambassador and a former Asian Games medallist, attended the event as the chief guest in the presence of TFA office-bearers, coaches and referees.

“The initiative honours the invaluable contributions of these legendary personalities to the development and growth of football in Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. All the office-bearers also felicitated Syed Nayeemuddin on the occasion,” TFA secretary G. Palguna said.
