Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in a footwear shop in the Jabbar Complex at Bansilalpet in Secunderabad here on Monday morning. No casualties were reported.
Officials suspect a short circuit led to the fire. Around 8.30 am, local residents noticed fire and thick smoke from the closed footwear shop on the ground floor of the complex, which is surrounded by residential colonies. They alerted the fire department and police immediately.
According to the police, a fire engine was rushed to the spot.
“It is a market place and the shop was full of rubber and inflammable material. There was nobody present inside at the time of the mishap,” an official said.
Two fire engines with the help of fire personnel doused the fire. Officials said the cost of the property damaged was yet to be estimated.
The police are investigating.
