Hyderabad: Four persons from the city were arrested by the Hyderabad Cybercrime police for conniving with Nigerian fraudsters who hacked into Mahesh Cooperative Urban Bank accounts and stole Rs 12.09 crore.
The Nigerian fraudsters had reportedly come to the city and hacked into a main account of the bank and later transferred the sum into four other accounts.
“After Rs 12.09 crore was transferred into four other accounts, the fraudsters again diverted it into 129 bank accounts in various banks in the country. The four persons, who were arrested, facilitated Nigerians in hacking into the bank account and also shared their own account details with them for a commission,” a Hyderabad Cybercrime official said.
Earlier the police arrested three persons from Bengaluru and two persons from New Delhi in connection with the case. The court has granted police custody of these persons and they are being questioned.
