Hyderabad: Four injured at restaurant in Gachibowli after lift crashes due to cable snapping

Hyderabad: Atleast four people were reportedly injured when a lift crashed in a popular restaurant at APHB Colony, Gachibowli on Friday.
The incident occurred when the lift’s rope (traction cable) suddenly snapped, causing the lift cabin to plummet with occupants inside, local residents told the police.
As per available information, one person suffered severe leg injury while three others escaped with minor injuries in the incident.
The other visitors at the eatery who heard a loud bang rushed to the spot and started rescuing the victims. They also immediately called the ambulance and shifted the injured to the nearby hospital for treatment.
The local police reached the spot and took up investigation into the cause of the crash and circumstances surrounding the lift’s failure.
Preliminary investigation has indicated that lack of maintenance and violations of safety protocols at the building led to the incident.
The Gachibowli police are investigating.
