Hyderabad: A four-year-old boy died after falling into a water sump located near his school in Gachibowli on Friday.

According to the police, the boy Nikhil Teja went to the local anganwadi school at Nanakramguda on Friday morning. However, he did not return home until evening.

The parents of the child, who got worried, rushed to the school and inquired with the other children and teachers about Nikhil. They had come to know that Nikhil, along with other children, was playing near the school in the afternoon. However, he was not seen later and the teachers assumed that he might have gone home.

“On checking a water sump located near the school, the parents found the body of Nikhil floating in the water. It is suspected the child might have fallen down in the uncovered water sump and drowned,” said Gachibowli police. The body was later fished out and shifted to the mortuary for postmortem examination. A case is registered.
