Hyderabad: Friday prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid near Charminar concluded peacefully on Friday amid tight police surveillance, with senior police officials monitoring the situation to ensure security and maintain communal harmony.

Additional Commissioner M. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner Kiran Khare and other senior police officers were present in the vicinity of Mecca Masjid as a large number of worshippers gathered for the Friday prayers.

Security personnel were deployed at key locations to prevent any untoward incident and facilitate the smooth movement of devotees and members of the public.

Despite the large gathering and the ongoing Ganesh idol immersion festivities, the atmosphere remained calm and cordial, with no visible signs of tension in the area.

During the prayers, a procession carrying a couple of large Ganesh idols from Gowlipura passed in front of Mecca Masjid. The devotees accompanying the procession maintained silence while passing the mosque, respecting the sentiments of those offering prayers. The gesture helped ensure that the procession moved through the area without disrupting the religious observances.

Following the conclusion of the prayers, worshippers emerged from Mecca Masjid and dispersed gradually. While most people left the area, a few remained on the pavements to catch a glimpse of the Ganesh idol procession as it passed through the vicinity.
