Hyderabad: Impact of the lockdown and curfews did not deter the ‘Pittalolla Sangam Ganesh Utsav Committee’ from decorating their truck with different varieties of the fruit.
As a practice over the years, the organizers decorate their truck with different varieties of fruits every year. “Our community members contribute the fruits for the purpose of decorating and we do it every year irrespective of the prices or our economic condition, the fruits are later distributed to poor people,” a member of the committee said.
Usually, it takes around three days for them to decorate the truck with fruits like apple, grapes, orange, sweet lime, pineapple, figs etc. The community is engaged in selling fruits on pushcarts in the city and is settled in the New Shakkar Gunj area located at Shamsheer Gunj in the old city.
