Hyderabad: A full-term pregnant woman has gone missing from the Koti Government Maternity Hospital, triggering anxiety among her family members.

The woman identified as Swapna, 25, a resident of Kagaz Ghat village in Manchal of Ranga Reddy district, arrived at the hospital on Monday along with her husband Shiva Kumar and mother for delivery.

According to the police, with doctors estimating that she was due to deliver within 24 hours, the family was preparing for her admission. However, shortly after reaching the premises, Swapna reportedly walked out of the hospital and has not been seen since.

Following a complaint filed by her husband Shiva Kumar, the Sultan Bazar police registered a missing case and took up an investigation. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Swapna had left the premises on her own in an auto rickshaw. The CCTV footage in and around the hospital is being examined to trace her.

“She walked out of the hospital alone and took an auto rickshaw. It is unclear where she went. With the help of surveillance cameras, we traced the auto. Once its driver is traced, details on the location where she got down will be known,” said M Swetha, the investigation officer.

There is no sign of any kidnap or force and it is a case of missing, she added.

The Sultan Bazar police said efforts are on to locate the missing woman at the earliest.
