Hyderabad: Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the revived stepwell in Gachibowli.
The revival was done under the aegis of the Rainwater Project. While restoring the Gachibowli stepwell, even the lime inside the well was tested before taking up structural alterations. Ready mix with similar lime concentration was used while restoring, officials said.
Arvind Kumar, appreciating the people behind the project, including Chirec School, called for more such participation by schools as part of their corporate social responsibility.
“Restored “Gachibowli” stepwell (Gachi- lime mortar, bowli- well) Thanks @ChirecSchool, @rainwater_info, @KalpanaRamesh8 for bringing it back to life ( from being nearly extinct being covered in debris just 6 months back) Requesting more schools & #CSR participation,” (sic) he tweeted.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao too appreciated the initiative.
