Hyderabad: Gang involved in printing fake currency nabbed

Hyderabad: Five persons including two students and a Border Security Force constable, were arrested by the Hyderabad Police for allegedly printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes in the State. The police seized counterfeit currency with a face value of Rs. 16 lakh from them.

The arrested were identified as C Santosh Kumar (29) a photographer, J Sai Kumar (24), who is into courier business, two students – Dharmaji Neeraj Kumar (21), and Jaligam Ram (20), and Sunkari Srinivas (31) working with 102 Battalion of BSF and a native of Siddipet.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anjani Kumar announcing the arrest of the suspects said the five persons were printing the counterfeit currency at a house in Siddipet using a laptop and photocopier.

“Santosh Kumar, who runs a photo studio and is the prime suspect in the case, along with others started the printing and circulating counterfeit currency after purchasing a laptop and printer. They printed the currency notes after scanning the original Rs. 500 notes and later cut it to the original size before packing in bundles. Afterwards, they were supplying to people in the ratio 1:3 to circulate in the market,” he said.

On information, the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (west) team laid a trap and nabbed the gang when they had come to Yousufguda in the city on Thursday. The police seized the counterfeit currency notes from them.
All the persons are handed over to the Jubilee Hills police station along with the material for further action.
