Hyderabad: It’s wedding season and Hyderabad is gearing up the hustle and bustle of the band, baaja and baraat. According to information available, the city could have record number of marriages performed on February 15 and 16.

With most auspicious muhurats lined during ‘magha masam’, the 11th month of Hindu calendar, the city is set to host scores of marriages in the next two months. The magha month is traditionally regarded as highly auspicious for nuptial knots and from marriage halls to convention halls to hotels are all fast getting booked.

Most of the wedding venues are reported to have been blocked and booked weeks and months back. Those choosing to join the wedding bandwagon late are forced to run around scouting for appropriate spaces to host the event.

Till May 23, there are said to be good muhurats and the wedding season is set to get extended over the months. Not just venues, even the purohits are in great demand and many are said to be already blocked and the same goes with those associated with the weddings such as mandap makers, ‘sannai’ teams, brass bands and so on.

The apparel and jewellery stores too have started getting more and more crowded. The catering services in the city are learnt to be fast getting booked while individual cooks too are likely to be in good demand during the season.

With many families preferring to rope in the event managers for the series of events like haldi, mehndi and sangeet among others, the wedding planners too are busy making necessary arrangements.

A family with a wedding event scheduled for February first week say they have roped in a photo and videographer from Bengaluru as the local professionals they preferred were not available on those dates. The weddings in the last few years getting more glitzy has the concepts of horse buggy, paalkis, vintage cars dominating the baraats.

The auspicious muhurats this season are said to be February 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 22 and 23 while those for next month include March 1, 2, 6, 7, 12, 14, 15, 16.
