Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s moviegoing landscape received a major upgrade with the launch of Allu Cinemas in Kokapet on March 12. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the multiplex. The theatre features what is being described as India’s largest Dolby Cinema screen, measuring about 75 feet wide.

The screen is reportedly the second-largest Dolby Cinema screen in the world and the largest in Asia, marking a significant milestone for immersive cinematic experiences in India.

The four-screen multiplex houses a premium Dolby Cinema auditorium that combines the advanced picture quality of Dolby Vision with the multidimensional sound of Dolby Atmos. The combination is designed to deliver a highly immersive viewing experience, where visuals and audio work together to draw audiences deeper into the story.

The auditorium has been designed with premium recliner seating, a curved stadium-style layout and unobstructed sightlines to enhance comfort and viewing quality. With a seating capacity of 644, the theatre features a 75-foot-wide wall-to-wall screen with a flat aspect ratio, making it one of the largest Dolby Cinema screens globally.

According to the developers, the theatre’s architectural acoustics, seating angles and lighting have been carefully engineered to deliver a distraction-free cinematic experience.

Speaking about the development, Ashim Mathur, Vice President Marketing – APAC at Dolby Laboratories, said Hyderabad is among the most passionate cinema markets in the world, with films produced in the city increasingly gaining national and global audiences beyond the Telugu-speaking market.

He said the city’s strong cinema culture makes it a key market for Dolby Cinema technology, which integrates Dolby Vision for enhanced picture quality with Dolby Atmos for immersive sound.

Mathur added that India has emerged as an important market for Dolby, with the company expanding Dolby Cinema experiences to cities such as Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad to meet the growing demand for premium theatre experiences.
