Hyderabad: GHMC deputy executive engineer, aide caught for bribery

The officials produced Mahalakshmi and Vijaya Kumar before the special court for ACB cases which remanded them to judicial custody.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught red-handed the GHMC Kapra Circle-I deputy executive engineer P Mahalakshmi and sanitary field assistant Y Vijay Kumar when they allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant A Srinivas of Mallapur, to ensure that his mother, Salamma, continued to work as a sweeper.

Salamma got the sweeper job on compassionate grounds after the death of her husband. The bribe was accepted near a function hall at Mallapur crossroads here. The tainted amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered from the possession of Mahalakshmi.
