Hyderabad: GHMC orders closure of meat, beef shops on September 4 for Janmashtami

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has ordered the closure of sheep, goat and cattle slaughterhouses, along with meat and beef shops, within GHMC limits on September 4 for Sri Krishna Janmashtami. Hyderabad police have been asked to support enforcement of the order.

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Wednesday ordered the closure of all sheep, goat and cattle slaughterhouses and meat and beef shops within GHMC limits on September 4 for Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

Karnan said the decision was taken considering the significance of Janmashtami, following a notice issued under Section 533(b) of the GHMC Act, 1955.

He urged Hyderabad police commissioners to cooperate fully with municipal authorities in enforcing the closure.
