Hyderabad: Golconda Hills open space under threat

Residents of Golconda Hills, Neknampur, have urged HYDRAA and the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation to protect 24 acres and 30.59 guntas of designated open space. They alleged encroachment attempts, unauthorised construction and misuse of documents to claim rights over public land.

Hyderabad: Residents of Golconda Hills at Neknampur have urged civic authorities to protect 24 acres and 30.59 guntas of designated open space in the HUDA-approved layout from alleged encroachment and unauthorised construction.

In a representation to HYDRAA and the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, the Golconda Hills Welfare Association said the open space, measuring 17,339 square yards, formed part of the layout approved under HUDA Layout. The land was transferred to Neknampur Gram Panchayat through a registered gift deed for public purposes and maintenance.

The Association alleged that attempts were being made to construct a boundary wall and carry out other activities on the open space. It also alleged that certain persons were attempting to create or rely on disputed documents by misusing the gift deed to claim rights over the public land.

The residents urged the authorities to immediately stop the construction, conduct a joint inspection and record the present status of the land. They also sought protection of the open space in accordance with the approved layout and government records, and action against those attempting to encroach upon or alter the land.
