While senior legislators including T Harish Rao, K Kavitha, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, KP Vivekananda, Shambhipur Raju, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Dr K Sanjay and several others including RS Praveen Kumar have been placed under house arrest, many BRS leaders were taken into preventive custody.

Similar reports are trickling in from various parts of the State. The police are also keeping a strict vigil on the routes leading to the State capital to prevent the BRS cadres joining the protest.

Condemning the arrest of its leaders and the Congress government’s constitutional violations, the BRS decided on Thursday to stage a massive demonstration at the iconic statue of Dr BR Ambedkar near Necklace Road on Friday. Commemorating the death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, the BRS leaders are scheduled to pay tributes to the Constitution’s architect and expose the ‘murder of democracy’ by the Congress government in Telangana.

The protest is being held opposing the arrest of BRS leaders including T Harish Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Padi Kaushik Reddy and others on Thursday for questioning the government’s actions.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed at the BRS State headquarters in Telangana Bhavan as well, where BRS MLAs, MLCs, MPs, elected representatives and activists are scheduled to assemble before proceeding to the protest site. BRS working president KT Rama Rao is scheduled to arrive at Telangana Bhavan at around 10.30 am and participate in the protest.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao took to X and shared the videos of the police personnel deployed at the houses of the BRS leaders. He condemned the house arrests and detention of the party leaders across the State.

He demanded for their immediate release. He questioned the Congress government’s people governance celebrations after imposing an undeclared Emergency in the State and raising curtains for anarchy. “Can’t the opposition leaders pay their tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar commemorating his death anniversary? Why such restrictions?” he asked.
