Hyderabad: A group of transgender persons, who allegedly demanded money from a family and threatened them if they did not pay, was caught by the Neredmet police here on Thursday.
According to the police, the suspects went to a house where a wedding took place recently and demanded Rs 50,000. When the family members refused to pay such a huge sum, the group allegedly created nuisance by abusing and threatening them apart from stripping in front of them. They also allegedly tried to extort money from the family members, even as there were many relatives.
Upon receiving a complaint, police reached the spot and shifted them to the police station. Even at the station, they allegedly created a nuisance and took off their clothes. A case of under sections of the Indian Penal Code for trespass, obscene act and threatening, and under the Disaster Management Act as well was registered against them.
