Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) busted an interstate ganja smuggling racket and arrested two peddlers, seizing 16.9 kg of marijuana worth Rs 8.4 lakh on Thursday.
The suspects, Chandra Prakash (22) of Delhi and Zamila Khatoon alias Noori (19) of West Bengal, were caught at Secunderabad railway station while allegedly transporting the contraband from Vizianagaram to Delhi. Another suspect, Paran Khan, who supplied the drugs, is absconding.
Police said Prakash, who is addicted to narcotics, planned to sell the marijuana in Delhi for profit and involved Khatoon for financial support.
The duo procured the consignment in Vizianagaram and were waiting to board a train when they were nabbed by the railway police.
