Hyderabad: With the mercury starting to drop in Hyderabad, availing warmth is now a luxury for those who can’t afford it.
Helping Humans Hyderabad has come forward to provide that warmth by donating blankets to needy persons across the city. Initiated by Mohammed Abdul Yousuf, a student of the Symbiosis Law School, the cause was backed by his friends’ group who came together to organise a warm clothes collection and distribution drive in the city.
The winter relief drive under the slogan ‘Give Something to Those Who Have Nothing’, is designed to reach out to homeless and underprivileged and rough sleepers and provide them clothes and blankets to keep them protected in the increasingly cold winter nights.
“A warm blanket costs nothing for most of us, but the same can be a lifesaver for thousands living on the streets with no roof above their head. Thus, I believe that society must come forward to help the poor and the needy. If all of us decide to donate our unused winter clothes, a lot can be done to alleviate their suffering,” shares Yousuf, founder of Team Helping Humans Hyderabad.
As part of its winter donation drive, the Helping Humans team has distributed around 150 blankets and 80 sweaters to the homeless in Charminar, Falaknuma, Chandrangutta, Farooqnagar, City College and other parts of the city. The drive is taken up every Saturday from 9.30 pm to 11.30 pm.
