The Hyderabad Heroes reclaimed the top spot in the GMR Rugby Premier League with a clinical 28–7 win over the Chennai Bulls. Earlier in the day, Delhi Redz defeated Bengaluru Bravehearts 22–12 to secure their third win of the tournament
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Heroes returned to the top of the points table in style, producing a commanding 28-7 victory over the Chennai Bulls in Season 1 of the GMR Rugby Premier League. The match was held on Monday at the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex (Andheri Sports Complex) in Mumbai.
In the other fixture of the day, the Delhi Redz registered a confident 22-12 win over the Bengaluru Bravehearts.
Delhi Redz vs Bengaluru Bravehearts
The Delhi Redz notched their third win of the tournament with a dominant first-half display. Matteo Graziano and Rajdeep Saha each scored a try to give Delhi early control. Bengaluru’s Iowane Teba briefly brought his team back into contention with seven points of his own.
However, after half-time, Pol Pla struck back for the Bravehearts off a brilliant move initiated by Philip Wokorach, giving them a slender lead. But the Redz were not to be denied. Sunil Chawan powered through to score, and Matias Osadczuk converted. Moritz Noll sealed the match with a late try, ensuring the Redz walked away with a solid 22-12 victory.
Hyderabad Heroes vs Chennai Bulls
The second game saw the Hyderabad Heroes roar back to form. Chennai started brightly, with Terry Kennedy touching down for a try and Joaquin Pellandini adding the extras for a 7-0 lead.
But Hyderabad quickly turned up the pressure. Javed Hussain and Motu Opetai each crossed the line for a try, and Manuel Moreno converted both, giving Hyderabad a 14-7 lead at the break.
In the final quarter, Wolfram Hacker and Terio Tamani each scored a try, with Tamani converting both. It was a clinical finish from the Heroes, who outplayed their opponents and sealed a 28-7 win.
With this result, the Hyderabad Heroes leapfrogged back to the top of the points table.
