Hyderabad: HMWSSB files criminal cases against illegal water connections
HMWSSB busted 49 illegal water connections in Hyderabad, filing criminal cases at Nampally and Habeeb Nagar police stations. Officials warned strict action against unauthorized use and urged citizens to report illegal or misused domestic connections to the vigilance helpline

Hyderabad: Vigilance officers of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) have cracked down on illegal water connections, conducting raids and filing criminal cases against 49 individuals.
At Miraj & Iram Fortune Apartments in Red Hills, a 20 mm connection was found illegally obtained by Akhil and 47 others without HMWSSB’s approval. The case came to light during a routine inspection, leading to a confession report and subsequent filing of criminal cases against 48 individuals at Nampally Police Station.
In another operation at Aghapura, two unauthorized 20 mm connections were discovered at a building owned by Salahuddin. A case was registered at Habeeb Nagar Police Station.
An official statement warned: “Criminal cases will be filed if illegal water connections are taken without permission. Citizens can report suspicious activity or misuse of domestic connections for commercial purposes to the vigilance team at 99899 98100.”
