Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro Water Supplies & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) authorities have removed the sewerage connection of a restaurant that was illegally set up without required permissions.

The owners of King’s Restaurant in Mehdipatnam, under the jurisdiction of water board O&M Division-3, took a 250 mm dia sewerage pipe line connection without permission. In addition, due to the excessive sewage coming from that restaurant, the sewage often overflowed on the main road.

This came to the notice of HMWSSB Managing Director, Ashok Reddy during a recent visit, and he ordered the authorities to cut the connection and the sewerage pipe line was connection removed today.

Ashok Reddy appealed to the consumers to regularize their illegal drain and sewerage connections. It was also reiterated that the managements of hospitals, hotels, bakeries, malls, and other commercial and multi-storey building complexes should mandatorily set up silt chambers.

Officials warned that criminal cases will be registered against those found to have taken drinking water taps and sewerage pipeline connections without permission from the water board. If anyone identifies illegal taps and sewerage connections, they can inform the water board vigilance team on 9989998100 and 9989987135.
