Hyderabad hosts WRO India National Championship 2026

The WRO India National Championship 2026 brought together top young robotics teams at GMR Aerocity Hyderabad. Winners across four categories will represent India at the global championship in Puerto Rico, following competitions testing coding, engineering, creativity and problem-solving skills.

Hyderabad: A three-day World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India National Championship 2026 was recently organised at GMR Arena, GMR Aerocity Hyderabad, bringing together young robotics talent. The national winners emerged after a nationwide journey of regional competitions and will now qualify to represent India at the global WRO Championship 2026 in Puerto Rico, USA.

Team Punaruttham, Team SkyWalkers and Team UWR CNRGY bagged top honours in the Future Innovators category. Similarly, Team Curiosity, Team Command Z and Team Robotitans won in the RoboMission category. While Team 2EZ topped the RoboSports, Team Glitch won in the Future Engineers category.

At Hyderabad, the country’s strongest qualifying teams were challenged on technical execution, engineering, coding, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. The jury faced a demanding task in evaluating the quality and diversity of robotic models and solutions presented by students from across India, a reflection of the depth of talent emerging through the country’s school ecosystem.

India STEM Foundation founder Sudhanshu Sharma said the WRO India journey has shown that future-ready talent is not created by technology alone but is created when young people are given the freedom to build, experiment, fail, rethink and solve.

NCSM Director General KS Murali said the quality and diversity of the solutions presented at the national championship made the jury’s task demanding.
