Hyderabad: A housewife was murdered allegedly by her husband over family issues at Bahadurpura in the city on Sunday.
According to the police, Nishath Begum was married to Suleiman in 2016 and since then the couple frequently quarrelled over family issues. The elders in the family had counselled them on several instances and asked them to stay peacefully together.
Nishath had filed a case against Suleiman a few years ago but the case was later settled amicably between them.
On Sunday, Nishath who stayed along with Suleiman at their house in Kishanbagh, was not receiving the phone calls made by her mother and sister. Suspecting something fishy, Nishath’s sister came to the house to check her well-being and found her sister lying dead on the floor in the house.
“It is suspected Suleiman had a quarrel with his wife and in a fit of rage slit the throat of Nishath using a knife. A case has been registered against him and efforts are on to nab him,” said ACP Falaknuma, MA Jaweed.
The police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
